Police Run ‘Operation Dismount’ To Promote Safe Cycling |

On Monday, September 6, officers from Portsmouth’s St Judes and Southsea Central Safer Neighbourhoods teams carried out an operation to tackle illegal cycling in the Southsea area.
‘Op Dismount’ was carried out in Palmerston Road, where officers spoke to people about cycling laws and took action against those who disregard other road users and pedestrians.

Fire appliances from Emsworth and Havant attended at fire in Spencer Road, Emsworth at around 7pm yesterday evening (6 September).
Eleven firefighters brought the fire under control in the kitchen of a mid-terrace property. No-one was injured in the incident. |

Hampshire County Council is now offering a great new scheme to encourage regular use of its DVD service, with a £40 annual DVD membership.
Instead of the usual pay-as-you-borrow charges, the annual membership allows customers to borrow two DVDs, games and music CDs at any one time.

On September 1, Portsmouth City Council’s community wardens and two of Cosham’s Safer Neighbourhoods teams (SNTs) joined forces to hold a community football tournament for youths in the area.
Officers from Cosham & Paulsgrove SNTs and wardens from the Cosham area organised a 5-a-side tournament with the help of other agencies and companies to give kids an exciting end to the summer holidays.

The summer anti-social behaviour campaign has now ended and the results show a dramatic decrease in the number of incidents compared to last summer.
The three month campaign, led by Hampshire Constabulary and local partners, has resulted in 3272 fewer rowdy and inconsiderate behaviour incidents,

Get down to Cumberland House Natural History Museum in Portsmouth for the last opportunity of the season to see a variety of butterflies in flight.
The butterflies fly from May to September in the museum s butterfly house which is kept at a high temperature to support exotic butterflies as well as some beautiful foreign plants.

On Saturday August 28, local police held the Hot in Horndean community event in Jubilee Field, Horndean.
Funded by DRUM Housing the event was an opportunity for local people to have a fun day out while getting a chance to meet and speak to officers from their local Safer Neighbourhoods team as well as other agencies.

The latest edition of the popular directory is out this week and contains information on over 600 organisations based in Hampshire (inc Portsmouth) that have been checked by Trading Standards for trustworthiness and compliance with the law.
