The number of vehicles on Britain's roads is continually increasing - between 1970 and 1995 the number of vehicles almost doubled. It now stands at 29 million.
With a large rise in traffic numbers, it becomes increasingly important to keep pollutant emissions to a minimum.

Car: Ford 100E
Age: 1960
Money spent this month: nil (it’s broken)
Hello and welcome to the very first Classic Car Diary, here on Portsmouthnews.tv. A monthly tale of woe, from someone who owns a classic car, and tries to keep it on the road!

It was originally a Portsmouth car, and carries the familiar UTP prefix on its plate, that was issued for many years in the Portsmouth area. Remarkably, as it’s coming up to its 50th birthday, the car has only had the one owner before me and lived for at least 40 years in and around Waterlooville. I bought it in 1999 as an MOT’d, freshly resprayed “starter classic”, from a bloke on the Isle of Wight. Sadly, it looked better than it was... although I’ll be forever thankful that it is relatively rust free and solid as a rock underneath!
