Bargain hunters who would normally shop at one of the big DIY chain stores might like to look at what’s on offer at Toolstation.

First there was Screwfix, offering tools and all manner of building and DIY goods at trade prices. But, B&Q spotted the competition and bought up this little jewel in the house fixing sector.

Whatever the time of year – it’s always important to think about security.

Double glazing is usually fitted with good security as standard, but you’d be surprised at how many of us are so busy with making the airport on time or loading our car that we forget to lock the catches and in some cases, leave a window open somewhere. The front door should also have a multi-bolt security system, but it will be of little use if you forget to lock it properly.

If your home doesn’t have double glazed doors and windows, there are many security products you can buy without breaking the bank. Outside doors should be fitted with British Standard 5-lever locks, like a Chubb for instance. Lockable window catches can be bought at most good hardware stores or locksmiths and they’re easy to fit.
