For minor ailments, grazes, bruises – Choose Self care. Don’t forget to keep your first aid kit well stocked – ask your pharmacist for advice

Pharmacy - minor infection – Headache – travel advice
For tummy upsets, coughs and colds – Choose a pharmacist Visit your pharmacy for help treating minor ailments and general health advice. Many pharmacies now have private consultation rooms. Pharmacists are trained how to treat minor illnesses and how to tell a minor ailment from something more serious.
GP Surgery – vomiting – ear pain – feeling ill
For fever infections - persistent symptoms – Choose your GP Your GP surgery should offer you an appointment with two working days and many surgeries now have extended hours. If your surgery is closed, contact the GP out of Hours service for urgent medical problems that cannot wait until usual surgery opening times – call 023 9237 7921
NHS minor injuries unit – cuts – sprains – minor fractures
The minor injuries unit at St Mary’s NHS treatment Centre is open 8:00am-9:30pm, seven days a week. You do not need an appointment. You can get advice and treatment in this Nurse-led unit for minor illness or injury. Please contact NHS direct if you are unsure if you should attend.

Emergency department – Chest pain - blacking out – blood loss
For symptoms of serious illness and major accidents – Choose the Emergency Department Emergency services are very busy. You should only attend the Emergency Department if you are very badly hurt or if you become very seriously ill (Life threatening)
